How loud is too loud on Social Media ........

In today's world we spend more time in the virtual world of social media. It is easy to get anyone's attention on social medial than in person. In this scenario social media is one of the best marketing tools available at hand. Marketing is mainly getting attention from your target audience. At the same time being too loud could sometimes be counter productive. So to be able to use Social Media as one of the reliable marketing tools, one needs to be very careful about what they post to their audiences. Depending on who you are and what you are trying to represent, you need to plan your message to get attention.

In this context I would like to use an example of olden days method of marketing that I am familiar with. Way back when (one of my friends told me it happens in some places even today) in some remote places of India, there was a method for marketing movies, which are currently playing in the local theater. On a three wheeler vehicle called "risksha", a guy would carry the flyers holding a speaker in his hand. Whether are not anyone is paying attention, his job is the keep talking about the movie, using some catchy dialogues from that movie.

Now, if the same guy is talking about the same movie everyday, he is going to loose the attention of the people. His voice will blend into sound fog and could very easily be ignored. Same conditions apply when you are on social media. Monotony is never accepted by people specially if they are seeking information about new products or ideas. In my observation our minds only absorbs information from the noise around us, only when our mind needs to act or react to something. If there is monotony in what the mind receives then that kind of information can very easily be ignored.
Whether you are an individual or an admin of an organization's page, If you don't plan and filter the messages to post there are a few harmful affects which could be proven to be counter productive. They could even become negative publicity.

Too Many messages in a short span of time : Flood of posts could make the real content get lost. One needs to monitor their posts and make sure it reached the target audience before making another post.

Quality and Content of the message : Message to be posted on Facebook , twitter should be different from the kind that will be put in emails. Social media posts should be short and sweet. Too many words will make the core message be lost. Size of the content should be smaller than the actual message you want to communicate. May be emails are okay to have an elaborated and lengthy messages.

Presentation in terms of language : The language of the message should be simple and sweet. It should be easy to understand, rather than showing of our vocabulary bank. In this time and age getting the message trough is important.

Targeting the right audience :  Knowing the audience and what catches their eye is important. One more key aspect an admin of a social media page needs to keep in mind is, these pages are a different than the conventional method of communication. In the sense , Once an email is sent out, views are not tracked by general public. But one social media if the page is too loud, with constant posts with no real content people could un-follow. This will cut down the audience for you.

Being aware of the watchers : The numbers of likes or shares or comments will speak about the popularity of the page. So if the response to the page is more visible,it will go either way when it comes to attracting more Social Media audience. On needs to be ware of the options available in terms of visibility setting for their content. Manage those settings appropriately.

A wisely managed social media page is the best instrument at hand to reach the target audiences.
